Justin Sun Pitches AI Agents and Quantum Defense at TOKEN2049

Justin Sun used two Singapore conference stages this week to pitch TRON DAO as the settlement rail for autonomous AI agents and post-quantum blockchain security. TRON was Title Sponsor of TOKEN2049 Singapore and joined Blockworks' Digital Asset Summit (DAS) Asia 2026 at the Marina Bay Sands, where Sun sat down with Michael Ippolito on October 7 and Kevin Follonier on October 8. The themes were stablecoins, institutional adoption, machine-to-machine payments and quantum-resilient infrastructure.

What Sun actually said on stage

On October 7, Sun took the DAS Asia main stage for a fireside titled "In Conversation with Justin Sun," moderated by Michael Ippolito, co-founder of Blockworks. Blockworks runs DAS Asia as an institution-focused conference about how traditional finance meets the digital asset economy, and that framing set the terms of the conversation. Sun argued that tokenized assets and stablecoins have become practical infrastructure, particularly for cross-border transfers and access to digital dollars and US-based assets.

TRON DAO also ran a booth on the conference floor and hosted a Creators and Media Networking Happy Hour.

A day later, on October 8, Sun joined Kevin Follonier, founder of When Shift Happens, for "Fireside Chat with Justin Sun" on the TOKEN2049 main stage. The pair covered the long-run direction of global finance and the case for blockchains that survive the arrival of quantum computing. Sun said TRON has already made meaningful progress toward post-quantum readiness, pointing to end-to-end post-quantum signature support deployed on the Nile testnet.

He also used the stage to promote the Justin Sun Prize, which he describes as the "Nobel Prize of the AI Era."

Why does the stablecoin pitch matter more than the token?

Because the numbers behind the pitch are dollar settlement numbers, not token price numbers. As of October 2026, TRON hosts the largest circulating supply of Tether's USDT at more than $94 billion, alongside over 407 million user accounts, more than 15 billion total transactions and over $28 billion in total value locked, according to TRONSCAN. That describes a chain used to move digital dollars, a different demand profile from a chain whose value rests on scarcity and staking.

USDT supply on TRON crossed $90 billion in July 2026, three months before the Singapore appearances.

Year to date through July, TRON led every network in USDT transfer volume at roughly $4.2 trillion, per Token Terminal. The chain processed more than 12.7 million daily transactions that month and averaged about $23.8 billion in daily USDT transfers, and it has the highest active wallet count of any stablecoin on any blockchain, according to Stablecoin Insider. Settlement volume, not token trading, is the metric TRON now leads.

TRX, the native token, is the fuel and bandwidth layer underneath that activity.

How did TRON end up as the largest USDT rail?

Unit economics did. The network runs delegated proof of stake with capacity quoted above 2,000 transactions per second and average fees under $0.01, a combination that makes moving a dollar feel free rather than expensive. The chain was founded in September 2017, went live on mainnet in May 2018 and became TRON DAO in December 2021, so the settlement role came well after the launch.

Usage data backs that up. CoinDesk reported that about 93% of TRON's $30 trillion in stablecoin transfer volume in the second quarter of 2026 was peer to peer, the highest share of any network it tracks. That ratio separates a settlement network from an exchange venue, because it implies value moving between users and businesses rather than churn generated by traders rotating pairs.

The institutional push continued through conference week. On October 7, the same day as the DAS Asia fireside, Polygon Labs added TRON support to its Open Money Stack, linking TRC-20 USDT with regulated US banking rails so remittance firms and fintechs can convert bank transfers, debit card payments or cash into USDT on TRON. Tron Inc. The Nasdaq-listed company built around a TRX treasury reserve, buys TRX through a publicly verifiable on-chain wallet.

Institutional plumbing is quietly replacing the old pitch about owning digital content.

What does the post-quantum talk mean for traders?

It puts cryptography upgrades on the same board as throughput and fees as a competitive axis between chains. A sufficiently powerful quantum computer running Shor's algorithm would break the elliptic curve signatures that most accounts and smart contracts rely on today. Migration is not a software patch. Post-quantum schemes such as lattice-based alternatives require far larger keys and signatures, which changes block size, validation cost and state growth on any chain that has to move.

That is why the Nile testnet detail carries more weight than it first sounds. Nile is TRON's test network, so deploying end-to-end post-quantum signature support there means the full transaction path, not just a signature library, has been exercised under the new scheme. Changing how accounts sign and how blocks validate would require network parameter proposals and super representative votes under TRON's governance.

Nobody has a reliable date for a cryptographically relevant quantum computer. Post-quantum work does not move a token price on its own, and no estimate of when such machines arrive carries market consensus. It does indicate which engineering budgets are being funded, and TRON is claiming a slot in that queue rather than waiting for a mandated deadline.

Why is AI agent payment the center of the pitch?

Because autonomous software needs somewhere to hold and move value, and traditional banks are not built for it. Sun's stated thesis is that AI agents using crypto will become the industry's biggest use case within the next five years, with blockchain becoming the financial infrastructure behind agents that transact, pay and operate autonomously. TRON's stated role is to be the fast, efficient and accessible settlement layer underneath them.

The obstacle is structural rather than ideological. An AI agent cannot open a checking account, clear a bank's identity checks on its own, or execute a remittance form as a legal person. A public chain hands software a wallet address, a signature scheme and a unit of account it can hold value in without a human approving each transfer. Stablecoins address price stability, which is why agent payment discussions keep landing on chains where dollar tokens already trade deeply and settle cheaply.

TRON has been building toward the thesis rather than announcing it in Singapore. B.AI, presented as TRON's AI agent infrastructure, launched in April 2026, extending the network's AI stack toward agent payments, settlement, on-chain identity and collaboration. Sun also said during the Singapore appearances that tokenized stock products are planned for the fourth quarter of 2026, which would put instruments such as US Treasuries on chain for TRON users.

Agent payments are a rounding error in actual dollar volume today.

What to watch next from TRON

The only dated commitment out of Singapore is the tokenized stock launch planned for the fourth quarter of 2026.

A tokenized Treasury product on a chain already clearing very large USDT volumes would put TRON into direct competition with other networks chasing the same institutional flow, so the useful measure is how much of the launch is working product rather than announcement. The post-quantum work runs on a longer clock, and the marker to watch is a move from the Nile testnet to a mainnet parameter proposal. No precise ship date beyond the quarter was given.

On-chain data remains the cleanest check on the narrative. Circulating USDT supply on TRON, daily USDT transfer volume, active addresses, total value locked and cumulative transaction counts are all published through TRONSCAN, and each has moved higher through 2026. Watch whether growth in dollar settlement keeps outpacing account growth, since balances rising while usage stalls would be a weaker signal than throughput rising with them.

Risks sit next to the catalysts. Concentrating this much dollar supply on one chain also concentrates issuer and regulatory exposure in a single stablecoin and one set of counterparties. Sun himself carries ongoing US regulatory scrutiny that a conventional corporate treasury would not, and Tron Inc.'s model ties its book value directly to the TRX price. Competitive pressure comes from other high-throughput networks and from fintech payment rails that move dollars without a blockchain at all.

The gap between narrative and shipped code

Sponsorship buys a booth, a mainstage slot and a founder in front of allocators, and none of those are scarce.

What separates chains that capture settlement demand from chains that host panels about it is the dull part: uptime, fee levels, account growth driven by payments rather than speculation, and dollar liquidity that holds up when the market is not calm. None of that is visible in a conference program. It is visible in block explorer data.

TRON's published numbers sit on the right side of that line so far. Accounts went from 300 million in April 2025 to more than 407 million by October 2026 while USDT supply rose past $94 billion, a pattern consistent with network use rather than a single incentive campaign. The open question is whether that growth continues once the tokenized product push and AI agent tooling arrive.

Conference appearances are cheap. Shipping is not.

Frequently asked questions

What did Justin Sun present at TOKEN2049 Singapore 2026?

Sun appeared at TOKEN2049 Singapore, where TRON DAO was Title Sponsor, and at Blockworks' DAS Asia 2026, both at the Marina Bay Sands. His themes were stablecoins, institutional adoption, AI agent payments and quantum-resilient infrastructure. He also pointed to tokenized stock products planned for the fourth quarter of 2026.

How much USDT is circulating on TRON?

More than $94 billion as of October 2026, the largest circulating supply of the stablecoin on any network. TRON also reports over 407 million user accounts, more than 15 billion transactions and over $28 billion in total value locked, per TRONSCAN. The supply crossed $90 billion in July 2026, when TRON led networks in USDT transfer volume with roughly $4.2 trillion year to date.

What is post-quantum signature support on the Nile testnet?

Nile is TRON's test network, and Sun said end-to-end post-quantum signature support is deployed there. That means the transaction path has been run with post-quantum signatures, not that mainnet accounts can use them yet. Moving it to mainnet would require network parameter changes and votes under TRON's governance system.
